What we are looking for:

NRC is seeking an experienced Project Coordinator – Climate and Environment to coordinate two global initiatives that are advancing climate and environmental integration across our humanitarian response.

Reporting to the Global Lead for Climate and Environment, you will serve as the key coordination point between NRC Country Offices, partners, and donors, ensuring effective project delivery, strong collaboration, timely reporting, and visibility of project results. You will play a central role in driving implementation, monitoring progress, and supporting NRC’s commitment to more environmentally responsible humanitarian programming.

What you will do:

Here are some of your generic responsibilities

  • Provide communication, briefings and presentations on the climate and environment strategy, projects, activities within NRC when required.
  • Coordinate with NRC country offices to establish a schedule for the delivery of capacity building missions on environmental and climate mainstreaming.
  • Support country offices in the planning and execution of climate and environment capacity building missions
  • Ensure that information about capacity building on climate and environment opportunities is shared in a timely manner within NRC and with partner organizations at global, regional and country levels
  • Prepare and provide regular updates on global project progresses and achievements; coordinate inputs gathering for donors’ reporting in collaboration with the Global Roving Experts from NORCAP, NRC Country Offices and consortium partners
  • Ensure that the reports documenting the learning and recommendations from global projects will be shared with external partners
  • Carry out other duties of temporary character appointed by Global Lead on Climate and Environment

Here are some of your specific responsibilities

  • Follow-up and disseminate through appropriate tools (including Kaya) the process of registration and liaise with humanitarian organisations interested in taking part in the climate &environmental screening/mainstreaming capacity building from NRC and consortium partners.
  • Ensure the monitoring of the global projects, particularly:
  • The number and locations of the capacity building sessions
  • Support provided to organizations on how to make changes to their programmes to make them less harmful to the environment
  • Number of organisational focal points that have been given trainings to be able to apply the tools and approaches for climate and environment mainstreaming in their own organisations
  • Number of reports presenting the findings and recommendations from screenings applied during the trainings.
  • Gather and compile inputs from participants through a post-training survey, and summarize the feedback
  • Responsibility to ensure that the reports produced as a result of the capacity building sessions are published on NRC’s SharePoint.
  • Support project budget review and follow-up, including BvA checking, with the finance coordinator.
  • In coordination with the NORCAP Global Roving Experts, consortium partners and the support from NRC’s Country Offices, ensure that NRC delivers its commitments in the project related to visibility requirements of DG-ECHO

What you will bring:

  • University degree in environmental or political science or other social studies
  • Documented experience from managing or providing support to large projects or events
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other departments, sections and units
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, working knowledge of other NRC languages (Spanish, French, Arabic) is an asset
  • Relevant work experience in Humanitarian/ Development Sector (desirable)
  • Experience in environmental management is an advantage
  • Competent ICT user, including word, excel, outlook, teams, ppt etc
  • Knowledge of international humanitarian work and donor procedures (desirable).

What we offer:

  • Duty station: NRC HO in Oslo, Norway.
  • Contract: 10 Months.
  • Travel: up to 20%
  • Salary/benefits: Grade 7 on NRC’s Resident salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions.
