The Danish Red Cross (DRC), part of the world’s largest humanitarian network, is seeking an intern to join our Humanitarian Diplomacy and Movement Engagement team. In this role, you will support our humanitarian policy work on a daily basis in a challenging yet inspiring environment.

As part of the International Department Secretariat, our team collaborates closely with colleagues across units, departments, country offices, as well as Movement partners. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience in international humanitarian policy and advocacy, and you will learn about the Danish Red Cross’ international work.

During your internship, you will support and gain experience in the following areas:

  • Support engagement in Arctic Council processes.
  • Contributing to analyses, policy briefs, background notes, and communication materials for advocacy and Movement engagement.
  • Assisting with the planning and coordination of events and meetings, including logistical arrangements, technical setup, note-taking, and preparation of presentations.

The tasks within the Humanitarian Policy team are diverse, and your specific responsibilities will be adapted to your academic background, interests, and qualifications.

The ideal candidate:

  • Is enrolled in a relevant university program (e.g., political science, social sciences, law, development studies, international relations, or similar).
  • Is fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Has a strong interest in humanitarian affairs, foreign affairs, and global engagement.
  • Possesses strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Is well-structured, detail-oriented, and flexible, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Is passionate about making a positive impact through humanitarian work and upholding the values of the Red Cross.
  • Has knowledge of, or an interest in, the Red Cross Movement and the UN -particularly the Security Council – as well as International Humanitarian Law.
