The Economics Department brings together more than 160 staff members involved in the production of the OECD Economic Outlook, the Going for Growth and more than 40 country-based economic surveys, and a broad range of analysis and policy advice.

Going for Growth is a flagship publication, identifying reform priorities, formulating recommendations and tracking reforms across OECD members and key non-member economies. The workstream also leads various projects related to reform strategies, including several OECD inputs into the G20 process and recent work on the political economy of reform. The work is highly visible and based on collaboration with many teams across the Economics Department, the OECD, other international organisations and beyond.

Role

The Going for Growth work stream is looking for a Junior Policy Analyst to contribute to the team’s strategic outputs. The candidate will work as part of a larger team under the supervision of a Senior Economist and contribute to a full 2-year Going for Growth publication cycle. (S)he will be fully involved in substance work as well as communication, including: data collection and processing, additional research, modifications of the Going for Growth priority selection model, new tools to track progress on reforms, potential extensions of the Going for Growth framework to new countries and drafting of short policy documents and briefing notes.

Main Responsibilities

  • Background research and analysis on structural policy issues.
  • Preparation of briefing materials and background analysis.
  • Contribution to key strategic tools and outputs: data, priority selection tools, reform tracking tools, innovative data visualisation and social media strategies.
  • Contributions to statistical analysis and drafting of main products, including in the context of the G20.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Academic Background

  • Undergraduate degree in Economics, Statistics, Quantitative Methods or similar.
  • Course work in economics and quantitative analysis required.

Skills

  • Strong statistical and quantitative skills; good knowledge of econometric tools would be an asset.
  • Keen interest in and good understanding of global and national structural reform related issues.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong analytical abilities.

Languages

  • Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) and knowledge of the other, with a commitment to reach a good working level.

What the OECD offers

  • Basic monthly salary from EUR 3 468, plus allowances and benefits depending on personal circumstances, exempt from French income tax
