ABOUT THE POSITION

To carry out a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) (including creating and managing a database and creating accessible tables of key information and cases) and substantively contribute to generating a high quality peer-reviewed systematic literature review on women self-help groups in the fisheries and aquaculture. The consultant’s role includes ensuring that the SLR methodology is developed and adhered to.

Scope of work

1. Development of SLR methodology

The consultant will work together with the project team to develop the methodology for the SLR which includes the review protocol and systematic search strategies.

2. Conducting the Systematic Literature Review and documenting the findings:

  • Upon agreement by the project team, the consultant will use the developed protocol to conduct searching and compile the articles into an agreed database (with search process, terms and other source details).
  • These articles will further be added to a referencing software (eg. Mendeley) during the duration of writing the article. The consultant need to ensure that the citation information uploaded in the database is correct and complete for each entry.
  • The consultant needs to also search within the literature to locate the most relevant information and consolidate into:

(a) Tables by paper themes & subthemes (as agreed by the project team)

(b) A ZERO draft (process to be refined with the team). As above, this needs to be organized to be highly accessible, i.e. useful for this paper and potentially for later papers.

  • Provide critical cross-checks on the article draft in terms of the accuracy and completeness of the literature and citations and manage citations and literature within the article and ensure that the article is formatted according to the author guidelines of the journal planned for the submission of the article.
  • Contribute to the writing and editing as needed.

(c) Zero draft paper ready for submission to WorldFish. The submission includes table of sources in database and references in a software.
Apart from the scope of work stated above, the consultant will need to provide bi-weekly/weekly reporting via emails or any other telecommunications application. The consultant will also provide inputs to the revision of the paper as needed till submission to the identified journal.

Requirements

This job consultancy contract might be for you if you have:

Essential qualifications and competencies

  • Ph.D. or Masters in Gender or in Development Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, Economics or a related social science field with a significant focus on women and/or gender.
  • Breadth of knowledge of and experience in operation of social science research.
  • Knowledge of and experience in conducting Systematic Literature Review evidenced by publication
  • Published articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Availability of Experts

The selected expert must be able to start as soon as possible and be available throughout the duration of the assignment for an overall 3 months. In some cases the assignment can be shortened or extended depending on business needs.
