Ukraine Country Director – Ukraine 2 views


Finn Church Aid (FCA) is seeking for a Country Director based in Ukraine. This exciting, impactful and challenging position will be for two years to start, with an extension possibility.

Duties and responsibilities:

Primary responsibility of the Country Director (CD) is to provide leadership and strategic direction of FCA`s development and humanitarian programs in Ukraine. Be responsible for FCA’s strategy implementation, which is based on FCA´s Global Strategy.

  • Lead FCA’s program work and guarantee its efficient implementation
  • Lead people: Lead the Senior Management Team in Ukraine. Creating an open and inspiring working culture
  • Lead innovation and strategy: Identify and lead innovation opportunities to have maximum impact in programming
  • Lead financial growth of the country program to reach out to as many people in need as possible
  • Be responsible for compliance with the office with set FCA standards. Be responsible for implementing FCA’s complaint mechanism according to the rules and procedures of FCA
  • Ensure effective external and internal communication: Ability to deliver messages that inspire good teamwork. Ability to communicate concisely and persuasively
  • Lead financial management of the country office according to the applicable statutory requirements as well as ensure that policies and guidelines by FCA are followed
  • Be responsible for FCA’s country office’s overall security management in Ukraine
  • Act in line with FCA’s vision, values and quality & accountability standards

Competence and Personal Requirements:

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in senior leadership role, special emphasis on program leadership, people management and team building
  • Prior working experience in similar position in Ukraine is an asset
  • Strong asset is if the candidate has already existing networks and relationships with humanitarian and development players in country, as well as local NGO partners, government, civil society and business sector
  • Understanding Nexus -programming and localization
  • Experience participating in humanitarian coordination committees at the country level would be considered an asset
  • Experience in FCA’s thematic areas: Right to Quality Education, Right to Livelihoods and Right to Peace
  • Context analysis ability and proven strategic planning experience
  • Experience in leading self-implemented, partner-implemented and consortium operations
  • Strong presentation and public speaking capacity
  • Results-oriented and effective decision-maker
  • Cultural sensitivity, diplomatic, positive and constructive approach
  • Preferably previous experience in working with Finnish donors, like Ministry for Foreign Affairs and other international donors
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills in English, other languages are an asset, especially Ukrainian language

The contract duration is for two years; extension of contract is negotiable. The compensation is based on FCA Compensation System and depends on prior work experience. Start date for this position: to be negotiated.
