Greenpeace is a global network of independent national and regional Greenpeace organisations (NROs) with Greenpeace International acting as a coordinating organisation. Greenpeace International employs about 300 people, plus the ships crews (Arctic Sunrise, Esperanza and RainbowWarrior). The Greenpeace NROs are responsible for implementing and carrying out campaigns that fall under the long-term global campaign programme.

The Role

The International Director People and Culture leads Greenpeace s People and Culture Department and reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). S/he leads and manages the People Strategy across the global organisation, and enables Greenpeace globally and locally to attract, develop, reward and retain the most talented and diverse group of people. S/he leads the development and execution of a Learning and Development Strategy, including supporting effective change management practices and driving cultural change processes where required.

The Director of People and Culture supervises the Global HR Manager, the Head of Learning and Development, the Head of People and Culture and the Facilities Manager. The People and Culture department at Greenpeace International is about 25 persons.

Purpose of the Job

Lead and manage the development, execution and delivery of the People Strategy across the global Greenpeace organisation.Enable Greenpeace, globally and locally, to attract, develop, reward and retain the most talented and diverse people (staff, crews and volunteers).Lead the development and execution of a Learning and Development Strategy.Have the right human resources (HR) and learning and development (L&D) systems in place to support the strategies.Oversee, initiate and proactively support effective change management practices.Drive the global diversity and inclusion strategy to ensure a safe and inclusive workplace for everyone working for Greenpeace. Drive the culture change that Greenpeace aims for.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Relevant Education in HR Development, Organisational Development, Business, or Public Management.Substantial working experience in the Resource Development (RD) field, including significant relevant senior strategic management/leadership experience in a global/international organisation/NGO.Strong leadership and team-building skills.Developing and leading a global diversity and inclusion plan.Proven change management experience; budget and process management.Negotiation, presentation and communication skills.Fluency in English required and any other additional language preferred.
