Overview:
SB OverSeasis a non-profit organization working in Belgium and in Lebanon, assisting those escaping conflict through education and empowerment programs all while providing aid and raising awareness of the humanitarian crisis. SB OverSeas is looking for interns to join us in the Internship Programme for 2020. These internship positions are catered to individuals who are eager to develop their teaching skills as well as put into practice additional skills or interests in the field of empowerment development.
The internship includes an Arabic language course that helps elevate the interns ability to communicate in classrooms, immerse quicker into the community, and gain Arabic proficiency, a vital skill in the international field. These language courses take place twice a week and are catered to their specific level. Language certificates are provided.
Primary tasks:
Plan and deliver lessons in English, Maths and ScienceSubmit weekly lesson plans for each of the classesTeach English to centre staff and tutoring children in need of extra supportSupport extra-curricular activities for children, some taking place on the weekendsAttend training sessions and team meetingsEstablish partnerships with other organizations that can provide both resources and lead the extra-curricular activities that take place after classes and on the weekendsEstablish partnerships with other organizations that can offer SB OverSeas team trainings that enhances the programmeGenerate a weekly and monthly status report to ESL Officer indicating success rate and progression of work
Secondary tasks:
Support staff with extra tasks such as organizing donations, planning celebrations, doing outreach and distribution
Essential Qualifications:
Experience working with refugees and at-risk individualsHigh-level working EnglishExperience working with childrenTeaching experience preferred but not mandatoryMulti-national and humanitarian experienceTeaching experience and/or qualifications
