In this role, and under the director supervision of the Chief of Security Operations and Analysis, you will lead the Department s efforts on analysis and forecasting, as well as supporting governance efforts, as required.

The main responsibilities include: Analysis and Forecasting Keeping aware of all aspects of security information which could potentially affect the safety and security of UNRWA and staff including of events relating to security environment through monitoring of security incidents, daily situation reports, local media and other open sources; Identifying and coordinating security information requirements, development of trend analysis; gathering comprehensive information on security factors and determining its relevance, validity and reliability of resources; Monitoring and analyzing political developments in the Agency s fields of operation and within the region; developing and tracking early warning indicators and assessing conflict vulnerability; Researching and producing situation assessments, field specific security risk analysis and evaluation of the security operating environment in the fields of operation, as required; conducting research and situation reports on specific threat factors, disseminating security information in a timely manner to key stakeholders; Managing the Security Information Management System (SIMS) functionality review and enhancement; developing guidelines, providing training and building capacity and awareness on the importance of using SIMS; Supervising the integration of Geographic Information System (GIS) and analysis methodology as a risk management tool at the Agency Level;

Communication Reviewing and clarifying security reporting lines across the Agency and strengthening communication channels at all levels: HQ-Field-Area-Sub Area in order to ensure accurate and timely internal flow of information; establishing and maintaining regular communication between DSRM offices in the Field and HQA; Coordinating with identified key stakeholders within and outside the Agency to gather key and timely security information; Serving as focal point for Protection, Gender and Programme mainstreaming issues; coordinating joint initiatives, identifying entry points and opportunities and supporting the integration of programmatic risk management;

Governance Providing support in developing and implementing strategies, objectives, and standards, as well as planning initiatives and managing specific projects, as required. Conditions of service UNRWA offers an attractive compensation package including annual salary starting at $60,233 net tax free with post adjustment of 45.6% (subject to change without notice). All UNRWA duty stations (with the exception of Gaza and Syria) are family duty stations. Other benefits, subject to eligibility, include:

Additional information The incumbent will be required to travel in the Agency s area of operations.

To qualify for this position, you will need: Education A university degree from an accredited educational institution in Political or Social Science, International Relations, statistics or related field; Work experience A minimum of six years of progressively responsible and relevant work experience in applied political or security analysis and research at national and/or international level, some of which preferably as a professional analyst or political affairs officer.
