IFC’s Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services Department (MAS) is seeking to recruit a Portfolio Analyst to work as part of MAS Global Analytics unit based in Washington, D.C. and to provide informational and analytical support to MAS management, sector and regional investment and advisory teams in the management of MAS investment portfolio, new business processing and advisory services.

Duties and Accountabilities:

The Portfolio Analyst will be a member of the MAS Global Analytics team. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Analytical Support, Data Collection & Reporting
  • Provide analytical support by extracting data from management information systems (MIS) and preparing materials for the regular analyses and presentations to MAS management and staff, including MAS business reviews, quarterly sector and regional portfolio reviews and reports, reports on RAROC, profitability (P&L), equity performance, new business pipeline, development impact (AIMM), Extended Portfolio Supervision Reports (XPSRs).
  • Support coordination with CPM and with Operations Management Unit (OMU) on relevant corporate-wide initiatives, including new business pipeline, KPI indicators tracking, portfolio evaluation and impact exercises like stress tests related to external shocks and developments.
  • Address ad-hoc information requests from MAS director, sector, regional teams, IFC’s Corporate Portfolio Management department (CPM) and IFC’s senior management, performing research, desk information gathering, and data analysis on MAS portfolio and new business pipeline as requested.
  • Other tasks and activities related to MAS portfolio and new business pipeline information that may be assigned from time to time.

Knowledge/Best Practice

  • Provide knowledge management and retention, application of best practices and IFC standards across MAS. Act as all-around support on MAS portfolio and new business pipeline information management and related policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions related to MAS portfolio and new business pipeline data and resources as needed targeting portfolio and investment staff across MAS.

Data Management & Quality / IT

  • Prepare and upload reports, tools and other resources generated by MAS Global Analytics unit to MASREPORTS SharePoint and maintain periodic data quality checks
  • Resolve data quality issues related to MAS portfolio and new business pipeline in IFC systems, ensure consistency of information in various reports. Provide analytical and programmatic support to process improvements and related IT initiatives.

Selection Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business or equivalent required and with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, and aptitude to learn new systems and databases is a must.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative and time management skills with proven ability to work independently, promptly and efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work with colleagues at all levels.
  • Strong team player with demonstrated capacity for hard work and responsiveness
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to think independently, analyze problems and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge of IFC’s portfolio and new business procedures and processes, databases and systems (e.g. IRP, iPortal, iDesk, EPMS, ODS, Business Intelligence (BI) Reporting, FSRS, Cognos, Cubes) or strong previous relevant experience is a plus.
