JOB PURPOSE:
Under the overall supervision of the Finance Manager, in coordination with Country Finance Coordinator, the role holder will be responsible, of improving the finance capacity and workflow, also ensuring effective execution of cardinal financial responsibilities like, spending overview with program team, support in bank reconciliation, initiating payment on the bank platform, Supervision of the roving finance assistant, conduct induction training for non-finance staff, liaise with logistic to ensure the observance of the procurement procedures. etc, most importantly demand someone with a well-grounded understanding of Nigerian context and the policies and procedures of INTERSOS).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Authorize PR on IMP between NGN 1000 to NGN 500, 000
•Prepare monthly cash and bank reconciliation,
•Prepare in collaboration with finance manager the monthly visits plan of the Roving Finance Assistants
•Support the finance manager in the financial management of the ongoing Projects.
•Ensure that all transactions relating to all projects are captured into the INTERSOS accounting system daily and that financial reports are prepared in line with donors reporting requirements.
•Manage the cash and the accountancy of the base; Check and ensure invoice and supporting document are “ok” before initiating payment on online bank platform.
•check pending cash aging and communicate officially with Project managers and staff.
•Report directly to the finance manager, Finance Coordinator and manage other finance staff.
•Conduct induction, training and support to new staff regarding generally accepted financial procedures and donor requirements.
•Manage book-keeping and PN, Verify with supporting document daily,
•Liaise with the logistician to ensure the observance of the procurement procedures.
•Support the projects staff in any related financial issues like volunteers’ payments, casual workers, guards, housekeepers…. etc and ensure having the appropriate payment documents.
•Ensures that all resources of the area are allocated on the project.
•Ensures that the running cost of this area is not rising from the standard norms.
•Ensures that non-allocated resources are not used on any project, unless approval is given by the CFC.
•Carry out any other duties related to the position and necessary for the achievement of the Finance and programs objectives.
•Initiating the payment on the bank platform
Education & Professional Requirements:
Education
An undergraduate degree from a recognized academic institution in one or more of the followingareas is preferred: Finance Management, Business Administration.
Professional experience:
Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience at national and international organization level working as finance officer or similar.
• Strong understanding of General Accounting, budgeting, financial management and donor reporting.
• Excellent computer skills, especially Excel.
• Demonstrated leadership and very good interpersonal/communication skills.
• Demonstrate experience with different donor finance compliance and reporting.
• Ability to perform and assure high accuracy in work under stress.
• Positive and solution-oriented personality.
• Fluency in English is required.

• Undertake and apply learning from appropriate training and development programmes.
• Maintain and care for all equipment issued by INTERSOS Nigeria and for any losses or damages due to negligence you will be liable for repair or replacement.
Languages
• Knowledge and fluency in English and local languages (Hausa and Kanuri) will be an asset.
