The ABA Center for Human Rights is seeking a short term temporary consultant to support its work in Eastern Europe and Eurasia by:

1. Researching and drafting sections of report on patterns of frivolous prosecutions and private actions against journalists and other human rights defenders in Serbia. Review underlying legal documents (to be provided), write up case studies (15-20), and identify how local laws are protecting or failing to protect legitimate speech in the public interest. Coordinate with local Serbian civil society and other relevant stakeholders as needed to research and analyze trends and generate recommendations.
2. Participation in civil society meetings and coalitions as needed – upon request and prior approval of the ABA Center for Human Rights, participate in various coordination calls among international and regional civil society and provide recommendations to the ABA Center for Human Rights on opportunities for advocacy and learning in support of its Justice Defenders Program.
3. Identify and provide legal analysis of cases in the Balkan region that meet the criteria of the ABA Center for Human Rights Justice Defenders and Trial Watch Program (up to 3).
