    Summary Statement

    Global Health (GH) Country Teams are the backbone of GH support to missions, providing strategic, programmatic and technical support to missions through an integrated team structure. Missions continuously provide feedback on the remarkable support of Country Teams. On the annual GH Mission Support Survey, mission health teams rate GH Country Teams very highly for their strong, reliable support.

    Job Requirements

    Working across GH technical offices, the Office of Country Support (OCS) manages the GH Country Team system. Positions are filled and team members understand their roles and responsibilities. In order to ensure this coordinated, robust support, the Country Team Coordinator will take the lead in coordinating Country Team recruitment, orientation, and monitor and strengthening the functioning of GH Country Teams. Working with OCS and GH staff, the OCS Country Team Coordinator will:

    • Coordinate and support the Country Team to ensure positions are filled, and team members understand their roles and responsibilities.
    • Establish systems to: monitor/track position vacancies, evaluate whether team members and teams are operating productively, and make suggestions for team member awards and recognition for Country Team members and Country Teams for their effective work.
    • Work with Technical Offices to support recruiting/filling Technical Liaison and Technical Resource Person positions, and the orientation of new Technical Liaisons and Technical Resource Persons.
    • Ensure Country Teams are linking to the new Country Support Network (CSN) with the broader Agency engagement to support countries – monitoring that Country Team Leads are part of the new CSN, assist with tracking TA requests, and support the implementation of the Technical Services Portal.
    • Serving as a resource for all Country Team members, particularly new team members and Country Assistants.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate and support Country Team to ensure positions are filled, and team members understand their roles,
    • Establish systems to monitor/track position vacancies,
    • Establish systems to evaluate whether team members and teams are operating productively, including the Country Team Assessment tool,
    • Work with OCS staff to guide/orient Country Teams and strengthen the engagement of team members or teams who are having challenges,
    • Establish systems to award and recognize Country Team members and Country Teams for their effective work,
    • Work with Technical Offices to support recruiting/filling Technical Liaison and Technical Resource Person positions, and the orientation of new Technical Liaisons and Technical Resource Persons.
    • Ensure that the technical offices have a POC to update Technical Liaison and Technical Point Persons new to Country Teams,
    • Ensure Country Teams are linking to the new Country Support Network (CSN) with the broader Agency engagement to support countries – monitoring that Country Team Leads are part of the new CSN, assist with tracking TA requests, and support the implementation of the Technical Services Portal.
    • Assisting with analysis of data collected on country teams.
    • Serving as a resource for all Country Team members, particularly new team members and Country Assistants.
    • Assist with knowledge management, ensuring the Mission Resource Hub has the latest information.
    • Ensuring that Country Teams are maintaining their country google folders.
    • Ensure all Country Team lists and list servs are updated.
    • The Country Team Coordinator will support the strengthening of the Country Team System, providing regular input regarding performance and ensuring productivity reporting to the Country Support Services and Communications Team Lead.
    • Participate in professional continuing education, skills training and professional meetings to enhance relevant technical skills and career development.
    • Complete and execute an Individual Learning and Training Plan and Annual Work Plan.

    Minimum Qualification Requirements

    • Minimum of Master’s degree and 5 years professional experience or Bachelor’s and 7 years or more of relevant experience in social science, public health, public policy, business or related discipline;
    • At least 5 years of professional experience with two or more public health technical disciplines (such as, Maternal & Child Health, Nutrition, HIV/AIDS and Infectious Disease, etc.); job duties/responsibilities generally related to position description requirements.
    • Communicates well both verbally and in writing, creates accurate and punctual reports, delivers presentations, shares information and ideas with others.
    • Good listening skills, builds strong relationships, is flexible/open-minded, negotiates effectively, solicits performance feedback and handles constructive criticism.
    • The ability to function effectively in cross-cultural and multi-level settings. S/he must be able to interact effectively with staff across the bureaus. Able to work independently.
    • Good judgment, excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, and strong writing skills.
    • knowledge of spreadsheet development, graphics applications and statistical analysis packages.
