Description:

FHI 360 seeks a Chief of Party (COP) for anticipated USAID civil society strengthening and peacebuilding programs in Mauritania. The projects will aim to build healthy civil societies to collaborate, communicate, network and jointly build stronger cultures of civic engagement, youth development and peace.

Job Responsibilities:

The Chief of Party (COP) will be the primary point of contact with USAID with regards to day‐to‐day activity implementation and management matters relating to the project. The Chief of Party will have overall responsibility for assuring that all assistance provided under the award is technically sound and appropriate for the needs to be addressed and for adequately managing and supervising the work of all field staff, long‐term staff, short‐term staff, consortium partners, and/or sub‐partners, as proposed.

Program activities may include: multi-stakeholder workshops on prioritization of needs and development of action plans, community dialogues, organizational capacity assessments, capacity building workshops, technical assistance, training on advocacy techniques and approaches, technical assistance on mobilizing organizational constituents, public gatherings to discuss issues of common concern, trainings on fundraising and own-source mobilization and support to civic education campaigns with a particular focus on youth and Gender Equity and Social Inclusion. The COP will oversee field staff, and will report to an FHI 360 Project Director based in Washington, DC.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Advanced degree preferred) in international development, political science, business, or a related field;
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience leading civil society strengthening and/or peacebuilding projects, with preference given to experience in Central or West Africa;
  • Knowledge of USAID policies and procedures;
  • Experience strengthening civil society networks, developing civil society capacity, promoting positive youth development and peacebuilding;
  • Experience recruiting, forming, and successfully managing teams and ensuring the quality of their products;
  • Experience managing subgrants in the Central and West Africa context;
  • Knowledge of the political, social, cultural, environmental, and development context of Central and West Africa preferred;
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams while developing a common vision;
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in French and working knowledge of English required

FHI 360 recherche un chef de projet (COP) pour un projet de renforcement de la société civile et de consolidation de la paix de l’USAID en Afrique centrale et occidentale. Le projet vise à bâtir des sociétés civiles compétentes pour collaborer, communiquer, et contribuer à une culture d’engagement citoyen, développement positif des jeunes et de paix.

Responsabilités professionnelles :

Le Chef de projet (COP) sera le principal point de contact avec l’USAID en ce qui concerne la mise en œuvre des activités quotidiennes et les questions de gestion liées au projet. Le chef de projet aura la responsabilité générale de s’assurer que toute l’assistance fournie dans le cadre du projet est techniquement solide et appropriée aux besoins exprimés et de gérer et superviser correctement le travail de tout le personnel de terrain, du personnel à long terme, du personnel à court terme, les partenaires du consortium et / ou sous-partenaires, comme proposé.

Les activités du programme comprendront: ateliers de consultation multipartites pour l’identification des besoins, évaluations des capacités organisationnelles, ateliers de renforcement des capacités, assistance technique, formation aux techniques et approches de plaidoyer, , rassemblements publics pour débattre des problèmes communs, la mobilisation des ressources, le soutien aux campagnes d’éducation civique avec un accent sur la participation des jeunes, femmes et des populations vulnérables,. Le COP sera supervisé par un directeur de projet basé à FHI 360 à Washington, DC.

Qualifications :

  • Baccalauréat (Diplôme de second cycle supérieur de préférence) en développement international, en sciences politiques, en affaires ou dans un domaine similaire ;
  • Minimum 10 ans d’expérience professionnelle dans la direction de projets de renforcement de la société civile et / ou de consolidation de la paix, avec une préférence pour l’expérience en Afrique centrale et / ou en Afrique de l’Ouest ;
  • Connaissance des politiques et procédures de l’USAID ;
  • Expérience en recrutement, en formation et en gestion des équipes ;
  • Expérience en gestion des subventions ;
  • Connaissance du contexte politique, social, culturel, environnemental et du développement En Afrique centrale et / ou l’Afrique de l’Ouest préféré ;
  • Capacité de gérer des équipes multidisciplinaires tout en développant une vision commune ;
  • Leadership, polyvalence et intégrité démontrés ;
  • De solides compétences en communication écrite et verbale en français et capacité de travailler en anglais sont requises.
