Our team and mission

The Technology Programmes Office is responsible for:

  • managing the General Support Technology Programme (GSTP) and the Technology Development Element within Basic Activities, defining the associated work plans and monitoring implementation and assessment of achievements;
  • communicating, disseminating and archiving results of all R&D activities supporting and organising training on technology matters;
  • maintaining the technology website of the Directorate, in coordination with the Communication Officer;
  • providing support to Member States in preparing and implementing national technology R&D programmes and projects via collaborative activities and third-party services;
  • leading efforts on technology breakthroughs, innovation and spin-ins.

Field(s) of activity

With the support of your tutor and more generally the Technology Programmes Office, you will gather knowledge of technology activity management and processes.

You will investigate recent developments and reported best-practices and proven methodologies for technology R&D management.

You will evaluate the technologies developed under technology programmes, to analyse the main objectives and origin of those activities (e.g. follow-up to discovery and preparation studies, technology-push, project needs, technology portfolio) with regard to achievement assessment.

You will support the dissemination of results and lessons learned within the Agency, with Member State delegates and with industry and partners as well as various initiatives to achieve industrial policy objectives. You will contribute to Knowledge Management and to ESA’s Digital Agenda.

Being in contact with ESA experts, you will acquire knowledge of state-of-the-art and future technologies, an understanding of ESA’s collaboration with Member States and partners, and the European space industry landscape.

Education

You should have just completed, or be in the final year of a university course at Master’s level (or equivalent) in a technical or scientific discipline.

Additional requirements

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.

You should demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
