Relief International (RI) is a leading non-profit organisation working across 18 countries to relieve poverty, ensure well-being and advance dignity. We specialise in fragile settings, responding to natural disasters, humanitarian crises and chronic poverty.
The Global Humanitarian Director role plays a critical role in ensuring Relief International responds effectively to humanitarian emergencies in fragile settings. Reporting to the SVP of Programme Management, you will be responsible for helping regional and country teams develop emergency preparedness plans; and building their capacity to assess crisis situations and initiate, implement and evaluate appropriate responses.
You will provide leadership to the RI rapid deployment team and facilitate cross-departmental collaboration, identifying resources and elaborating program recommendations. Additionally, you ll take the lead in advising the Leadership team and be key in representing RI globally to securing funding.
To be successful in this role you will bring proven senior management experience in both humanitarian response and long-term development in an emergency response or fragile setting. Your programme design and proposal development skills and experience will give you a thorough understanding of funding agencies and international organisations (including ECHO, DFID and OFDA / USAID) for humanitarian and nexus programming.
You will have prior experience in setting up programmes and helping country offices prepare for emergencies. Whilst this is a strategic role, it requires the candidate to take a hands-on approach when supporting new countries and scaling up operations for handover.
This role has a global remit that requires the candidate to be able to travel internationally regularly.
