Senior Human Resources Assistant for CORES

Organizational Setting and Work Relationships

The Senior Human Resources Assistant for CORES is a member of the team responsible for the development and maintenance of the Common Reference System (CORES) HR knowledge tool. The CORES Team functions under the direct supervision of the Chief of PAS within HR Staff Services in Budapest. The incumbent will be under the direct supervision of the Associate Personnel Administration Officer for CORES. The supervisor provides general guidance and work plans for identifying work priorities and appropriate approaches to create, develop and maintain the CORES tool. The Senior Human Resources Assistant for CORES will be a focal point of several departments and will have a close working relationship with the staff-related services in UNHCR, such as Personnel Administration Section, Global Payroll Section, Global Learning and Development Centre (GLDC), HR Policy Section (HRPS), Legal Affairs Service (LAS), Assignments Management Section (AMS), Talent Development and Performance Section (TDPS), and Division of Information Systems and Telecommunications (DIST). The incumbent will also maintain contact and close cooperation with HR counterparts in the Field. The confidentiality of all UNHCR staff member matters and the need to deal with clients in a courteous and efficient manner are salient features of this position.

Duties

Content-related tasks: editing, updating and checking content in CORES

  • Edit existing CORES content for clarity, conciseness and accuracy, taking into account different levels of knowledge and experience of users.
  • Identify and create CORES content: collate authorities, index terms and texts. Prepare procedural guidelines as required in consultation with HR implementers.
  • Identify common issues through liaison with HR implementers (PAS and Field) for clarification and possible inclusion in CORES.
  • Monitor and update CORES content in response to clarifications and changes in rules, policies or procedures, identifying ambiguities and collating systematically for the review by the supervisor.
  • Prepare and present CORES content in a form suitable for submission to the Contents Clearance Committee

    Platform-related tasks:

  • Assist with developing structure of CORES to maximise user-friendliness of the site.
  • Develop and update CORES Construction Manual as required.
  • Liaise with Brand Team as required to ensure UNHCR brand compliance across entire site and contents.

    Technical Assistance

  • Liaise with IT focal point as required to ensure CORES functions at optimum level and discuss possible modifications/developments as required to meet new needs.
  • Liaise with IT to assist in any migration of CORES to new platform and ensuring smooth transfer of content.
  • Ensure platform/site meets needs of CORES by collating and defining specific technical needs and sharing with IT.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
