Organizational Setting
The position is located at the FAO Representation in Georgia. The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by the FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural, fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.
Reporting Lines
The Consultant shall operate under the overall supervision of the Assistant FAO Representative in Georgia, the direct supervision of the National Project Coordinator and in close collaboration with the staff of FAO Representation and other FAO projects.
Technical Focus
The Consultant will be responsible for support of the extension and CSA national consultants in regards to extension and climate smart agriculture components of the project under the ADA Funded project ‘Strengthening capacities of stakeholders for the implementation of the Strategy for Agricultural Development in Georgia 2015-2020 and the Rural Development Strategy of Georgia 2017-2020’. The main Objective of the project will be to contribute to increased competitiveness of the agricultural sector, increased food production and reduction of rural poverty with focus on reduction of inequality.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Support national extension consultant and Climate smart agriculture consultant in implementation of the daily tasks as per project document.
- Support preparation of the DRR strategies, including holding discussions with stakeholders.
- Provide administrative support for daily organizational activities of the project.
- Provide administrative support for organization of the trainings.
National Agricultural Olympiad (NAO)
- Support implementation of the information campaign and ensure communication with stakeholders throughout the preparatory stage and rewarding ceremony;
- Support elaboration of simple and practical database of winners by sectors and ratings accessible for all interested stakeholders including private and international organizations;
Good Agricultural Practices
- Support national and international consultants in organization of the meetings with stakeholders for development and presentation of the developed GAPs.
- Support preparation of the publications of the GAPs.
- Other duties as required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
- 5 years of relevant experience at the national level;
- Working knowledge of English;
- Knowledge of Russian is an asset;
- National of Georgia
