Team Rubicon UK (TRUK) is a UK based, international disaster response charity, which unites the skills and experiences of military veterans, first responders and like-minded civilians, to rapidly deploy disaster response teams in the UK and around the world. Initially founded in the USA, Team Rubicon puts the ethos of ‘Service above self’ as the driving force behind all of our operational activity. Our actions are characterised by the constant pursuit to prevent or alleviate human suffering, and restore human dignity – we help people on their worst days.
Team Rubicon UK promotes collaboration, using innovative approaches to build successful partnerships and promote rebuilding, resilience and self-reliance in affected communities. Our core capabilities are: life support, last mile logistics, needs assessment and disaster mapping, incident management, capacity building and resilience training.
Role description:
To meet our rapidly growing commitments, we are looking for a number of dedicated interns to join our team at TRUK headquarters (HQ) in Chilmark, UK. The successful applicants will provide high quality support to the Operations Department.
Duties and responsibilities:
Depending on the skills and interests of the applicant, and the needs of the organisation, the interns role may include: (responsibilities will vary)
· Scan, track and gather situational awareness throughout all stages of a disaster.
· Develop situation and operation reports and briefs.
· Coordinate logistical support during disaster response operations both internationally and domestically.
· Use tech and communications platforms to deliver information internally and externally.
· Deliver training and support to volunteers.
· Manage domestic service projects and regional events.
· Provide monitoring and evaluation of operational objectives and outcomes.
Qualities and requirements:
· Interest in working in the humanitarian sector, in particular disaster management
· Good written and oral communication skills
· IT proficient
· Cultural sensitivity and respect for the Humanitarian Principles
· A ‘can do’ attitude
· Flexibility and resilience: TRUK is a 24hrs organisation – when disaster strikes, we respond. Therefore, we cannot guarantee a 9-5 work day will always be stuck to.
· Good sense of humour
· A passion for learning

Please note that this is an unpaid internship, however TRUK may be able to assist with accommodation/transport solutions.
