OECD LEED, Trento
The OECD is a global economic forum working with 36 member countries and more than 100 emerging and developing economies to make better policies for better lives. Our mission is to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world. The Organisation provides a unique forum in which governments work together to share experiences on what drives economic, social and environmental change, seeking solutions to common problems.
The OECD Trento Centre for Local Development, based in Trento (Italy), is looking for a motivated junior economist to join the Trento Centre team and work within the topics of the Spatial Productivity Lab. The work will include aggregate and micro-level data analyses, contributions to various written outputs of the Trento Centre (literature reviews, reports based on the data analysis, briefing notes, etc.) and organising workshops and conferences with experts and policy makers.
The Trento Centre builds the capacity of institutions, localities and individuals and disseminates practical guidance for policy implementation and the design of area-based strategies, through cross-country comparative analysis, peer reviews, multi-stakeholder dialogues and workshops. It is also home to the Spatial Productivity Lab, which contributes a spatial dimension to OECD analysis on productivity and its implications for policies and practices. The work explores the impact of economies of agglomeration generated in cities and of the mechanisms of regional productivity catching-up on aggregate productivity; and the role of local and regional authorities in promoting bottom-up approaches to productivity improvement.
The Trento Centre and the Spatial Productivity Lab are part of the OECD’s Centre for Entrepreneurship, SMEs, Regions and Cities (CFE). Many activities of the Trento Centre and the Spatial Productivity Lab are carried out in close collaboration with the Paris-based CFE team. The CFE helps OECD and non-OECD countries to design and implement policies that promote job creation, economic growth and social cohesion. CFE serves as the OECD hub on local and regional development and cities and works to make SMEs, entrepreneurship and territorial development policies more effective at the national, regional and local levels.
The selected candidate will report to the responsible project manager at the Trento Centre.
