ORGANIZATION

iMMAP is a pioneering humanitarian organization that paves the way for the effective use of information management practices and principles for humanitarian aid and development.

SCOPE OF WORK

The Global Security Coordinator for iMMAP (GSC) will work with the iMMAP team to ensure the safety of employees engaged for projects around the world.

The primary functions of the GSC are to technically manage country security advisers and field security officers in each country where iMMAP is present or remotely monitor the security situation by also conducting regular field visits.

The GSC will monitor and assess security conditions and make recommendations to the Regional Director, Country Directors and/or Country Security Advisers as appropriate.

The GSC is committed to implementing and adhering to the highest standards of security and contingency planning to ensure the safety of all personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The GSC will monitor the security situation in the countries of operations and provide advice when security events could potentially affect personnel or operations. This includes specific events, forecasts and strategic developments.

The GSC manages country security advisers and field security officers around the world, liaises with them daily, and provides technical advice when needed.

The GSC will provide timely liaison and coordination on security incidents, threats or failures that may affect operations. In addition, the GSC will liaise and coordinate with the safety coordinator with regard to travel management, monitoring and other security related administrative issues.

The GSC will conduct threat, vulnerability and risk assessments, provide sound and timely advice to staff and management on security issues, and monitor staff compliance with safety and security procedures.

The GSC will ensure the implementation and adherence to safety and security policies and standard operating procedures.

The GSC will develop and update project security plans for applicable programs as required, while ensuring compliance with iMMAP’s global operating principles and risk management policies.

The GSC will work to develop operating procedures and protocols.

The GSC will maintain an extensive network of contacts within INGOs, IOs and the security stakeholder community, which will enable iMMAP to have access to reliable and up-to-date information on security sites of its projects.

In a crisis, the GSC will act as a member of the Crisis Management Team or Incident Management Team.

The GSC will create a weekly safety report.

The GSC will prepare the introductory safety briefings material for new staff.

The GSC will maintain the validity of emergency and contingency protocols based on the applicable E & C level, and design and implement emergency communication protocols.

REPORT, MONITORING AND EVALUATION

The GSC will report to iMMAP’s Director of Operations and iMMAP’s France Operations Manager under the overall supervision of IMMAP Chief Executive Officer and iMMAP France Chief Executive Officer.

REPRESENTATION

Maintain effective and positive internal contacts with iMMAP its country consultants, officials and staff, as well as external contacts with national and local government officials, international non-governmental organizations (INGOs), donor agency officials, suppliers, the media and the general public.

Follow the iMMAP branding rules required in terms of correspondence and document submission.

RESPONSIBILITY TO BENEFICIARIES

iMMAP team members are expected to support all accountability efforts, particularly to iMMAP recipients, and international standards guiding international assistance and development activities, while actively engaging beneficiary communities, as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of projects in the field.

Any other task as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in a relevant field required, at least a Bachelor, Master’s degree or other desired professional degree.

Significant practical experience in managing security in complex contexts and high-risk environments;

At least eight years of relevant experience in the field of safety and security.

Work experience in a desired international non-governmental organization.

Strong organizational and relational skills;

Ability to interact effectively with international and national staff;

Languages: English required + one other language (mandatory): Arabic, Spanish or French

Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and analyze data and translate it into effective information.

Ability to work in a multicultural team, work under pressure, perform high quality work on time and meet team goals.

Personnel is expected to conduct itself in a professional manner and respect local laws, customs and iMMAP s policies, procedures, and values at all times and in all Countries.
