    The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And its girls who are most affected. Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for more than 80 years and are now active in more than 70 countries.

    The Opportunity

After 2 years of programming in Cox’s Bazar, Plan International is in the process of realigning their strategic priorities to reflect the development needs of the host community, and the specific needs of Rohingya refugees who are unlikely to return home in the near future.

The Director Cox’s Bazar Programme is a key leadership position for Plan International Bangladesh and is a core member of the extended country management team. This position leads and provides oversight to Plan International’s programme direction, impact and learning across the Cox’s Bazar programme.

As the director of this programme, you will ensure that the Cox’s Bazar strategy remains relevant, and responds to changes in context, and that Plan has the people and resources to effectively deliver on commitments. You will be expected to provide strategic leadership across the programme and to represent Plan International at the Cox’s Bazar level, with the Government, UN agencies, INGOs and national organisations.

    The Individual

We are looking to recruit an organised and analytical individual who has over 5 years of humanitarian experience, ideally field experience in large scale emergency response management. You will have in-depth knowledge of refugee and nexus programming and a sound understanding of integrated development issues and Plan’s policies and procedures.

You will have a demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning and implementation processes, alongside an understanding of international donor requirements and contract compliance.

You will have excellent communication skills and have the ability to support and train both local and international staff. You must also be able to work effectively under extreme circumstances in a flexible, adaptable and resilient manner.

To be successful in this role you will have experience of managing multi-million dollar budgets as well as having a proven experience of working in partnership with national & local NGOs and UN agencies.

Fluency in English is essential, whilst fluency in Bangla is an advantage.
