    PCI’s New Business Development Unit (NBDU) oversees the prospecting and strategic pursuit of federal and private donors to obtain funding for PCI programs as well as in support of broader organizational initiatives. NBDU facilitates the research, planning, prioritization and decision-making for all restricted funding opportunities and leads the coordination process for all proposals, ensuring the highest possible quality. NBDU develops and executes resource development approaches using evidence generated by a set of analytical tools which are part of PCI’s PURSUIT approach.

    The NBDU Coordinator is based at the International Office (IO) and provides strategic support to the NBDU to facilitate communication and effective coordination between NBDU and other Programs Department units, with a particular focus on the areas of: (1) Proposal Development; (2) Information Management and Dissemination; (3) Donor Stewardship and Relationship Cultivation; (4) Donor Report Review; and, (5) General Support Duties. The NBDU Coordinator directly supports research and analysis on new funding opportunities and donor prospects, specifically in support of programs. The NBDU Coordinator works in coordination with other Programs Department support positions to maximize efficiency of all department efforts, and to ensure that all department functions related to donor and partner relationships are fully supported, especially during peak times.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities:

    Proposal Development Support (30%)

    • Draft, format, edit, and finalize proposal content and attachments, including background research, cost application documents, and support successful, on-time submissions.
    • Schedule and coordinate meetings and calls in support of proposal teams, resource development workshops/plans; taking and distributing meeting notes.
    • Support all aspects of program design process for various donors, occasionally playing a lead coordination role on less complex proposals and/or continuing applications.

    Information Management and Dissemination / Key Information Systems (30%)

    • Support the maintenance of all NBDU-relevant information systems and reports to inform strategic decision-making (i.e. PURSUIT Module); cultivation of key relationships (Donor Relationship Module, Talent Database); and strategic tracking of program information (i.e. Capacity Materials Database, Project Summaries Databases) and other databases as needed, in coordination with the Development Department.
    • Proactively strategize on and streamline improved utilization of the NBDU information systems within the NBDU and across other relevant units/departments within PCI
    • Assist with data entry and retrieval into/from key information tracking systems and databases, and supporting the design and creation of relevant reports
    • Support ongoing recruitment and vetting processes for consultants to support Programs Department units with proposals, reports, workshops and other deliverables, and maintain a consultant database and performance tracking system.
    • Support documentation and sharing of key program achievements as requested for internal and external audiences, drawing upon program information databases, recent proposals and reports.

    Donor Stewardship and Relationship Cultivation (20%)

    • Support the NBDU efforts to gather information about potential donors or partners, research new funding opportunities and target prospects, analyze grant/funding application guidelines and summarize analysis for dissemination.
    • Support ongoing quality assurance processes in the Pursuit Module; ensure information entry is calibrated to ensure maximum value for multiple uses and applications.
    • Coordinate with the NBDU, and Development Coordinator to design and produce relevant reports to support coordination and PURSUIT decision-making.
    • Facilitate and promote (as “champion”) increased utilization of the PURSUIT Module to ensure its smooth scale-up and strategic application across Programs and other PCI departments.
    • Develop/revise marketing materials and capabilities statements for partnership cultivation; organize and continually update capacity materials and similar program documentation.

    • Supporting the NBDU efforts to leverage Programs and Development staff travel to maximize opportunities for relationship cultivation and visibility with donors and partners

    Donor Report Review (10%)

    • Make recommendations to continually improve and take maximum advantage of the program reporting process, in terms of both efficiency and quality of information; support efforts to proactively utilize reports to build relationships and occasionally serve as reviewer when needed on donor reports, with an emphasis on draft management and copy editing of report content.

    General Support Duties (10%)

    • Support development of Programs Department tools and orientation materials/trainings.
      • Conduct research and prepare presentations on topics as requested, using Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, Prezi, and other similar programs.
      • Ensure adequate coverage of administrative support to all members of Programs Department (travel and meeting preparation, scheduling, mailings, check requests, photocopying, printing, filing, purchasing, etc.) and field offices as requested.
      • Cover the front desk as needed.
    • Participate in PCI’s innovation efforts and in teams on innovation initiatives

    • Other duties as assigned

    Position Parameters/Special Responsibilities Required:

    • May require overtime during peak periods.
    • May require local and international travel.

    Required Qualifications:

    • A passion for the mission and values of PCI
    • Bachelors’ Degree or relevant technical training with three additional years of work experience.
    • Three to four years of professional experience.
    • Excellent communication skills including writing, verbal and interpersonal relations and cross-cultural communication required.
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, detail-oriented, including ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently, and work in a deadline-oriented environment.
    • Ability to take initiative, develop/propose solutions, anticipate actions, and to use creative means to complete tasks.
    • Ability to work as an integral part of a team, taking guidance and input from a variety of staff and willingness to learn from and respond to constructive criticism.
    • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with staff from various cultural backgrounds
    • Excellent computer skills including word processing (Microsoft Word), spreadsheets (intermediate level Excel preferred), presentations (PowerPoint), and graphics – familiarity with database programs (preferred)
    • Strong research and writing skills
    • Strong Salesforce experience and skills
