UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.

And we never give up.

For every child, hope

The UNICEF Division of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) oversees engagement with the private sector – ranging from corporations and foundations to high-net-worth individuals and pledge donors – to raise funds, advocate for children’s rights and engage audiences on issues of importance for children and young people to survive and thrive. The Division works with National Committees, country offices and other divisions in UNICEF to facilitate this collaboration with the private sector across the organization. To showcase the division’s work, PFP would like to produce an annual report that explains the results and strategies of partnering with the private sector.

How can you make a difference?

The annual report will serve as a document illustrating how UNICEF delivers on its private sector fundraising, partnerships and engagement goals in a way that is accessible and interesting for a wide internal audience. The point is to showcase the results as well as the methods of how UNICEF engages with the private sector to raise funds and advocate for children’s rights around the world.

MAIN TASKS:

The main task is to write a complete annual report of maximum 32 printed pages in three months, January through March 2020. The report will include graphics and case studies to illustrate the main points in the report.

METHODOLOGY:

PFP will provide the raw data and the overarching narrative for the report. The writer will be expected to translate that content into a highly engaging, compelling report and to conduct interviews and focus groups to collect six to eight one-page case studies.

DELIVERABLES:

The deliverable will be a Word document with the full text for an annual report, including text boxes, case studies, photos and captions. A first draft must be submitted by Monday 10 February 2020, a final draft on Monday 2 March 2020, and the final document by 23 March 2020, allowing for last-minute changes by the end of the contract on 27 March 2020.

The final report will be a well-written document consistent with UNICEF style that meets the standards of being clear, concise and consistent as well as compelling. The text must be free of jargon and ‘institutional’ language and written for a general audience.

ESTIMATED DURATION OF THE CONTRACT AND PROPOSAL:

The assignment will be carried out from Monday 6 January 2020 to Friday 27 March 2020.

REPORTING TO:

The writer will report to the Editor of PFP.

WORK PLACE:

Most of the assignment will be completed electronically and remotely. If the writer needs to work in the UNICEF office, the writer and PFP will agree on the logistics of the travel arrangement.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

The writer must be able to demonstrate their skills by sharing three samples of their work and providing three references who can validate their abilities. It is possible that shortlisted candidates will be given a short test to further confirm their capabilities.

The writer must have excellent command of the English language and a creative style of writing. The writer should be able to make text succinct as well as persuasive. The person must also have high standards for effective written communication.

For every Child, you demonstrate…

UNICEF’s values of Care, Respect, Integrity, Trust, and Accountability (CRITA) and core competencies in Communication, Working with People and Drive for Results.
