Organizational Setting
This position is located in FAO Program Office in Peshawar, Pakistan. The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to help develop the agricultural , fisheries and forestry sectors and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner.
Reporting Lines
Under the overall supervision of FAO Representative in Pakistan and in close coordination with Assistant FAO Representative (Program / Administration), the incumbent will report to Communication Specialist in performance of the following functions and shall ensure coherence with FAO’s corporate communication policy and operational guidelines for all communication and information outputs.
Technical Focus
- To assist in implementing the overall communication strategy of FAO Pakistan with a focus on FAO activities in Pakistan.
- To support and assist Communications at FAO Pakistan Representation in visibility, outreach and advocacy project
Tasks and responsibilities
- Assist in arranging media coverage, dissemination and follow up activities on a range of events of the FAO programmes in Representation and FAOPK field offices such as conferences, workshops, international days and other meetings.
- Initiate preparation of press releases, write-ups, leaflets, project fact sheets, talking points, note taking and power point presentations.
- Design graphics and animation, using independent judgment, creativity, and computer equipment.
- Design Templates, brochures, layouts.
- Develop briefings, brochures, leaflets, multimedia presentations, web pages, promotional products, technical illustrations, and computer artwork for use in products, technical manuals, literature, newsletters and slide shows.
- Clear all drafts with Communication Specialist
- Arrange and catalogue photographs from the field and take photographs as and when required
- Regularly Gather success stories from FAO projects and provide drafts to for finalization to Communication Specialist
- Pitch material regularly to Communication Officer in Islamabad for FAO Corporate communication channels
- Update the photo database with captioning all the photos and organizing the photo libraries.
- Liaise with Information management team to accomplish communication objectives.
- Assist in preparation of social media content
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
- University degree in Mass communications, Advertising & Communication design or related areas;
- 02 years of relevant working experience;
- National of Pakistan

- Knowledge of Corel Draw, Adobe Photoshop, IN page, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
- Strong writing & communications skills.
- Good knowledge of Urdu and a good working knowledge of English and ability to work in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams is essential.
- Management procedures, preferably those adopted by the United Nations or FAO would be considered an added asset.
