The Manoff Group, Inc. (TMG) is seeking a consultant with quantitative and qualitative research experience to lead a formative assessment of consumption practices around animal-source foods (ASF) and their determinants in four regions of Rwanda.
Period of performance: January 6 – May 31, 2020
Level of effort: approximately 60 days or about 50% FTE; LOE will vary by month
Tasks:

Assist the TMG project manager with the overall design of the assessment and decisions on data analysis software.

Finalize the assessment protocol and question guides in consultation with the TMG project manager and in-country project team members.

Support the preparation of the IRB submission.

Develop the interviewer training for the consumption assessment.

Lead the training of the interviewers, the pretesting of the instruments and any needed revisions in consultation with the TMG project manager and the in-country assessment team. Oversee the first week of field work. [Note: this task will be done in Rwanda].

Develop the data analysis protocol and code book for digital analysis.

Monitor data quality from a distance.

Train a small team of data entry and analysts in country and work with them to ensure the quality of the data coding. [Note: this task will be done in Rwanda].

Work with the TMG project manager to complete the analysis of the assessment information.

Draft the assessment report.
Qualifications:
§ Must be based in Rwanda or in a near-by country.
§ Must have availability for the duration of the assignment
§ Master’s in a social science or public health
§ Demonstrated experience leading a social or behavioral research effort for a development project.
§ Demonstrated experience with each of the tasks in the scope of work including familiarity with digital data collection and analysis
§ Teaching experience or extensive training experience in research methods
§ Nutrition / dietary research or program experience a plus
§ Ability to travel to Rwanda for the two in-country assignment for 2-3 weeks each trip.
