    Overview of Position

    Monitors that air operations activities are conducted in compliance with Air Tasking Orders (ATOs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), UN directives, Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO)/Department of Field Support Aviation Manual, UN Aviation Standards for Peacekeeping and Humanitarian Air Transport Operations (UN AVSTADS), UN Aviation Safety Manual, ICAO, IATA and the host country’s Aeronautical Information Publications (AIP);
    Verifies the daily projected Air Tasking Orders (ATOs) for conformance and compliance with the requested tasks, resolves conflicting priorities and ensures that ATOs are published and communicated to all relevant elements in accordance with the established procedures and deadlines;
    Manages routine (regular passenger/cargo, logistics resupply) flights and special flights for Sectors 1 & 5;
    Ensures that AORM is conducted for each-and-every flight;
    Coordinates all CASEVACs/MEDEVACs in consultation with all other key stakeholders and this includes NVG CASEVACs;

    Role Objectives

    Coordinates all CASEVACs/MEDEVACs in consultation with all other key stakeholders and this includes NVG CASEVACs;
    Provides over-sight on military operational flights and ensures that all MATOs are approved for each task;
    Provides initial training to new flight crew personnel, and monitors that flight crews are briefed and conversant with UN policies, flight safety procedures and latest applicable aviation standard requirements;
    Confirms that appropriate reference documents are readily available and accessible to all flight crew and aviation personnel;
    Manages JMAOC Archives Unit to ensure a systematic way in filing all Accountable Aviation Documents and for ease of retrieval of the same documents.
    Oversight of Passenger and Cargo Flights
    Interface with SCAA at sector level and Flight Information Services for Somalia for licensing of the aircrews and aircraft when applicable;
    Report all Status MHE, Truck vehicles to Chief Air Terminal Unit
    Ensure that aircraft and vehicle movements on the ramp and in the vicinity of the buildings are conducted in accordance with appropriate ICAO, FISS and OUR CLIENT rules, regulations policies and guidance. This is to include wearing the appropriate protective equipment.
    Ensures that OUR CLIENT mechanical handling equipment (MHE) is in working conditions and properly maintained.

    Project Reporting

    The Project reporting will be done on a monthly basis in coordination with the Team Leader on site.

    Team Management

    Work in collaboration and synchronized with the Team Leader on site for backup in the Team Leaders absence

    Further Information

    Monitor and verifies fuel-upload for all OUR CLIENT aircraft. Record the amount of fuel registered on the fuel truck’s gauge and compares it with the amount of fuel indicated on the aircraft’s fuel gauge.
    Ensure that refuelling operations are conducted in a safe manner.
    Verifies cargo manifest when required hand supervises on and off loading and handling of all cargo
    Supervises; Load Handling and dangerous cargo as per ICAO, CAA, IATA and OUR CLIENT established regulations, policies and established procedures.
    Develops passenger and cargo load plans
    Liaises with other UN units/section, non-government and government organizations and intergovernmental agencies on immigrations and customs matters;
    Record statistical data on the movement of passengers and cargo (including dangerous goods requiring special handling) within and/or outside the field mission.
    Monitors the preparation of luggage and cargo for transportation and ensure that weighting, plastic wrapping, and labelling are conducted in accordance with eh established procedures;
    Assist in the planning, coordination and execution of military and police contingent deployment, rotations, and repatriations.
    Brief passengers on schedules, routes and timing and safety requirements.
    Monitors check-in and out check-out activities for outgoing and incoming passengers and cargo.
