The OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities (HCNM) promotes conflict prevention and integration of diverse societies. HCNM was established in 1992 to identify and seek early resolution of ethnic tensions that might endanger peace, stability, or friendly relations between OSCE participating States. The office is consists of: the High Commissioner; a Director; area teams comprising political, legal and project advisers/officers; and an administrative and support team. Under the direction of the Senior Political Adviser/Head of Section, the incumbent functions as the administrative focal point for one of the area teams and has the primary responsibility of providing secretarial, travel, and administrative support.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Organizing official travel in accordance with OSCE procedures; Conducting general administrative duties in support of section activities, including drafting, distributing and filing correspondence; Drafting minutes of meetings and assisting with the planning and scheduling of section activities; Providing travel and visa support to external participants of section-related events; Organizing seminars, conferences and meetings in close collaboration with programmatic and procurement colleagues; Providing back-up support for the general administrative functioning of the institution as part of a team of four administrative assistants; Performing other duties as required.
- Secondary education supplemented by formal training in secretarial administration support.
- A minimum of four years of experience in secretarial or administrative support functions.
- Experience with making travel arrangements or using online booking tools is an asset.
- Computer literacy, with practical experience with Oracle and Microsoft packages.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English is essential.
- A working knowledge of Russian is an asset.
- An ability to work well with people of diverse nationalities and cultural backgrounds.
- An awareness of applying a gender perspective to duties carried out in the workplace.
Monthly remuneration is approximately EUR 2850. OSCE salaries are exempt from taxation in The Netherlands. Social benefits include the possibility of participation in Cigna medical insurance.
